Description
Sweetgrass Bamboo Fly Rod 8' 2/2 #4/5A nice Sweetgrass bamboo fly rod, 8', 2 piece, 2 tip, and built for a #4 or #5. Serial #1221. Excellent lightly used condition with a small amount of soiling to the grip, and one tiny varnish chip between the second and third guide from the tip on one of the tip sections (the other doesn't appear to have ever been used). Very clean. Medium fast, full flexing action. The ferrule fits are good, and the rod is nice and straight. Medium wheatstraw colored
"Saracione" and "335" are stamped on the foot bar
This is the most delicate of all of the Payne models
The spigot ferrule fit is nice and tight as it should be with 1/4" gap to allow for wear over time
the seat is caramelized varnished curly maple and has some dents from being pressed against the guides during transportation
This would make for a great decoration piece on a shelf or curio for any collector of fly-fishing memorabilia
The nodes are hand pressed to a very small size
