Hardy 1912 Perfect Salmon Fly Reel 3 1/2"A rare and unique Hardy Perfect 1912 check fly reel, 3 1 2" diameter, set up for the typical right hand wind. Unusually this reel has straight pillars, a feature of earlier reels which I've never personally seen on any other 1912 models and have heard of only a few. Curiously the stamp on the inside of the winding plate is "GT" (Gordon Talbot) whose tenure dates to 19291939 (according to John Drewett's reference) well into the period during which

The diameter is 3 3/16" with a spool width of 11/16"
The rod weighs in at a lean 3
The varnish work looks to be original
The reel is immaculate
The butt cap is stamped "Ron Kusse
during the most significant era of bamboo rod production"
The cane is a heavy oven tempered dark wheat straw
It fits the reel seats on the few rods I tested it on
