EF Payne Bamboo Fly Rod 8'6" 3/2 #5

EF Payne Bamboo Fly Rod 8'6" 3/2 #5A nice EF Payne bamboo fly rod, 8'6", 3 piece, 2 tip, and built for a #5 line. There is no hang tag but likely a model 206. Excellent original condition with some sign of modest use, just the start of casting cracks at the ferrule wraps and a hint of wear to the inner snake guides. The grip has been cleaned. The varnish just below the stripper is slightly hazy indicating the area has been sanded with very fine sandpaper most likely to eliminate splash

3 1/4" diameter with a 1 5/8" spool width

The cap is stamped "Thomas and Thomas Makers" and retains 100% of its oxidation

9 ounces on my scale (the blank has it listed at an even 3)

The foot and serpentine handle are polished

The sideplates are also black anodized

The reel seat is a polished up lock aluminum screw lock with a varnished

The ferrules have the trademark overwraps

Butt cap has the usual late model roller die stamp

Though labeled the "Streamer Special" the rod would be perfect for late summer hopper-dropper set-ups as well all types of large dries

Comes with its original tan bag and labeled tube

Mint condition with the exception of the cigar cork grip having a very small snake guide indentation

Some of the ferrule wraps have some cosmetic cracks (I couldn't detect any looseness) and there is a little varnish that has spilled onto the ferrules in a few spots
