It actually started out with me using my lino stamps on the board to get the composition. Painted on board with a deep black background, the piece is finished with a high gloss varnish that brings out every detail and shimmer of the fish. A simple paste is mixed and applied to the reverse of the print

I’ve used my signature acrylic inks

is the traditional ink used in Japan for calligraphy it is made from soot and a binder

This print is on Thai mulberry paper and I have used the traditional Sumi ink

One panel showcases organic finds—seaweed

wrapped in acid free tissue paper with the certificate

suggesting both the fragility and resilience of the natural world

The paper measures 17cm by 14cm so it's a lovely cute print

I then cut this at 2cm all the way around the print and then add the final backing paper
