Description
Orvis CFO III Limited Edition ReelA rare Orvis CFO III Limited Edition fly reel, 3" diameter and currently set up for RHW (though easily switchable). This reel appeared in the 1977 and 1978 catalogs along with Limited Edition Orvis Classic Fly Rod with mahogany presentation chest. This limited edition model was limited to 300 reels, and this one is #275. The reel was actually priced separately in the 1978 catalog but only offered as part of the presentation set in the 1977 catalog.
The ring and bottom cap are oxidized and sport a rope knurl
having “THE LEONARD ROD

The rod is packed in a heavy tan cloth bag with a leather pull tab

Has a sealed
The full wells grip measures 6 1/2" in length with moderate soiling
While he was alive his recreation reels were considered to be the best on the market

Excellent plus condition with some minor scuffing on the rims and some general handling marks

Ferrule fit is very good and pop when pulled apart
