Wood & Sons Dorset Blue and White PlateA blue and white earthenware plate in the Dorset pattern. The transfer print shows a flowering tree rising from rockwork, with peonies, chrysanthemums and blossom in a deep cobalt blue, framed by a pointed arch border and a floral rim. Backstamped by Wood & Sons of Burslem, England, with the pattern engraved by hand under the glaze. Wood & Sons produced the Dorset pattern through the mid twentieth century at their Burslem works in Staffordshire.
