Jacques Frederic Mugnier Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Amoureuses 2006This terrific effort has evolved beautifully and still closely resembles my original tasting note from 2008 with its knockout nose that is classic Amoureuses as it combines seductive spice and a ripe blend of red, black and blue fruit aromas that are displaying hints of maturity. There is good richness and a lovely minerality to the naturally sweet, fresh and energetic medium full flavors that are supple, classy, balanced and beautifully persistent.

The finish narrows just a bit and it is this aspect that ultimately prevents this otherwise gorgeous effort from meriting a higher overall score

An airy and beautifully broad-ranging nose offers up notes of floral

graphite and floral notes are followed by a wine of great depth

yet retains its sense of balance and symmetry

all wrapped in a balanced and velvety finish that is supported by moderately firm tannins

wonderfully integrated

but impeccable winemaking and upbringing

There is a really lovely sense of underlying tension suffusing the much more mineral-driven middle weight flavors that are not quite as rich but notably more precise on the chiseled and wonderfully refined finish

although the tiny production means quantities are extremely limited
